Rosefox Paper is a family-run independent paper merchant, running deliveries from its base in Preston to clients across the North West. Their unit’s roof had a traditional built up felt system with a limestone grit finish. The roof was ageing naturally, having been laid quite a few years ago, and needed renewing before the insulation and deck became affected by water ingress.

Rosefox need to keep their busy fleet of delivery vehicles on the road supplying their customers. This lead to space and delivery restrictions on site. It was also important to keep the roof sealed at all times to prevent damage to moisture sensitive stock.
With the current system being aged but largely leak free, and the insulation and deck being firm, the decision was to leave the existing system down but strip the limestone and overlay the roof. This meant the system had to be an overlay system that would give a 20 year guarantee.
We specified our BBA accredited System Endura. This built up two layer system was laid on top of an 80mm torchon PIR insulation, using the existing system as a VCL. Insulation with 80mm thickness was used to increase the thermal value of the roof and provide a level and even surface to bond to. All obsolete plant on the roof was removed to provide a clear roof with minimal details and potential weaknesses. The existing outlets were removed and replaced while the felted gutter in the middle of the roof was improved to provide a better drainage system.
