Endura FR delivers a successful seven barrel-roof refurbishment

Background

The site was a large industrial facility with 7 adjacent barrel roofs with a 1m flat gutter between them. A large curved glazed light on the top of each barrel added to the complexity of the site and roofing work required.

Challenge

Years of neglect had resulted in a number of issues with the roof complex. The drainage outlets had become blocked, with plants and saplings growing out of them. The lack of drainage had contributed to a buildup of detritus on the roof. The existing roll and pour bituminous system had also failed in places, causing some localised saturation in the slab.

Solution

Lancastria, in conjunction with the roofing contractor, specified the removal of the existing membrane to provide a solid surface to work from.  This was replaced with our Endura BBA 3mm underlay, followed by our Endura FR, a 4mm BBA certified and BRoofT4 cap sheet made from high quality distilled bitumen, modified with elastomeric polymers and providing excellent UV and weather resistance.

Outcome

This was a complex application given the state of the roof and its structure. Despite the challenges, the contractor succeeded in installing the Endura System to a high standard, reflecting the quality and ease of use of the membrane.

And in line with our Endura FR product and application standards, we were pleased to offer a 20-year guarantee on the completed works, adding assurance for the building owner on the long-term life of the new roof.
