THE CHALLENGE

Rosefox Paper are a busy independent paper merchant. They needed to keep their busy fleet of delivery vehicles loaded up and on the road supplying their customers. This activity created space and delivery restrictions on site. It was also important to keep the roof sealed at all times to prevent damage to their moisture sensitive stock.

With the current flat roofing system being aged but largely leak free, and the insulation and deck being firm, the decision was made to leave the existing system down but strip the limestone and overlay the roof. This meant the system had to be an overlay system that would give a 20 year guarantee.

PROJECT SOLUTION

We specified our BBA certified System Endura waterproofing membrane. This built up two layer system was laid on top of an 80mm torchon PIR insulation, using the existing system as a VCL. Insulation with 80mm thickness was used to increase the thermal value of the roof and provide a level and even surface to bond to.

All obsolete plant on the roof was removed by the contractors Clad-It to provide a clear roof with minimal details and potential weaknesses. The existing outlets were removed and new ones supplied for replacement.  The felted gutter in the middle of the roof was improved to provide a better drainage system.

THE OUTCOME

The refurbishment was completed on time and with miminal disruption to the working day at Rosefox. We were also able to offer a 20 year guarantee on the work undertaked by Clad-It providing the reassurance the client had requested.
